Exodus 20:21-22 -- 21 “So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was. 22 Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: “You have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.”’”
Deuteronomy 27:6 -- “You shall build with whole stones the alter of the LORD your God, and offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God.”
The Jews are commanded to build a sanctuary where their sacrifices are to be offered, the perpetual fire is to burn, the pilgrimages are to be made, and the festivals and assemblages are to be held every year. |
