The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 1 - The 248 Positive Commandments of the Tora

180 - CONDEMNING WITNESSES WHO TESTIFY FALSELY

Deuteronomy 19:18-19 -- 18 “And the judges shall make careful inquiry, and indeed, if the witness is a false witness, who has testified falsely against his brother, 19 then you shall do to him as he thought to have done to his brother; so you shall put away the evil from among you.”

“The law concerning false witnesses (Deuteronomy 19:19) prescribes that they shall suffer exactly the same loss which they intended to inflict upon another. If they intended to bring a sentence of death on a person, they are killed; if they aimed at the punishment of whipping, they receive whipping; and if they desired to make a person pay money, they are sentenced to pay exactly the same sum. The object of all these laws is to make the punishment equal to the crime; and it is also on this account that the judgments are ‘righteous’ (ibid., 4:8).”*
