Home -- Content: Series 7 (Laws) -- Translation: English -- Book: 1 (Tora) -- Part: 2 (Negative) -- Prohibition: 197 -- Text The Sharia of Moses in the TORA 197 - EATING CHAMETZ DURING PESACHExodus 13:3 -- “And Moses said to the people: "Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out of this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.”
Exodus 12:15 -- “Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel.”
Willful contravention of this prohibition is punishable by extinction as is clearly stated in His words, For whoever eats leavened bread … that person shall be cut off from Israel. (Exodus 12:15). One who transgresses unintentionally is obliged to bring a fixed sin offering. |
