364 - A KING TAKING MANY WIVES


Deuteronomy 17:17 --Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself.”

Since Scripture states the reason for this commandment, lest his heart turn away,* the Sages infer that “he may not marry even one who would turn away his heart.”**
