The mechanic attaches cables to all the essential points of the car and sends an electrical current through them. Then the electrodes are attached in other places, and in this way, the car is tested. Finally, the results are fed into a computer, which computes the values that have been measured and prints out a report that many a car owner has learned to fear. Now you have to decide whether or not you will accept the consequences of the report, and whether or not it is cheaper to buy a new car, repair the old one, or to drive it as it is until it falls apart. We asked the radio speaker Pastor Menes Abdul Noor of Cairo to lecture on the topic “Comparing and Contrasting Christianity and Islam“. He smiled at our typically European request and related his experiences as a counsellor of Christians and Muslims in a few sentences. We will follow his basic outline, adding a few comments in view of the situation in the modern Western world. He said, “Committed Christians see John 3:16 as the summary of their faith God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Just as a mechanic tests a car by attaching electrodes to it, let us put the electrodes of the Gospel on the different sections of the Islamic faith and send a spiritual current through it by asking it certain questions:
