2. Common terms

It’s crucial to define a few terms used frequently when talking about apologetics, because they are used in different fields with different meanings which can cause confusion. These are the commonly accepted definitions for these terms within the field of apologetics.

Logic: A process of reasoning based on specific principles and laws, to reach a valid conclusion. It is used as a tool for understanding and is not an ultimate authority.

Reason: The process by which we explain and try to convince someone of certain truth, Again used within the Christian framework as a tool of communication.

Worldview: A network of presuppositions (which are not verified by the procedures of natural science) regarding reality (metaphysics), knowing (epistemology), and conduct (ethics) in terms of which every element of human experience is related and interpreted.
