In trying to understand why there is a diversity of views or opinions concerning this question about the polygamy of Christians from a Muslim background, let us biblically investigate the Koran regarding this question. We focus on the legal aspect of this problem. The spiritual dimensions of this question can only be hinted at here and there and must be dealt with in depth in a different context. First we give an overview on the logically different kinds of marriage that are legally conceivable and then look at what the Bible commands about each of these kinds of marriage and how the Koran has taken up and / or changed biblical commandments in these matters. |
