17. Understanding Islam
SECTION FOUR: UNDERSTANDING ISLAMIC BARRIERS TO THE GOSPEL
CHAPTER TEN: SOCIAL OBSTACLES FOR MUSLIMS TO OVERCOME WHEN CONSIDERING CHRISTIANITY

10.1. False feeling of security

Muslims in general believe the Qur’an to be the only preserved sacred book, even if such a belief has no historical support. As a result of such belief, Muslims generally aren’t interested in studying or even reading any other religious text. Even more educated Muslims will not read the Bible as they believe it has been either corrupted (i.e. the text has been changed) or abrogated (i.e. has been replaced by later divine writings). For them, Mohammed is the last prophet, and all religious books before Islam can’t be trusted. Even when Muslims study Islam in depth and find it to be contradictory and incoherent, they would rather become atheists than study the Bible. Having already been convinced Islam is the only true religion, when convinced it is not true they will not look any further; if Islam which they considered to be the most preserved and the most accurate religion turns out to be false, then nothing else can be trusted.
