12. POLYGAMY IN THE BIBLE AND THE KORAN
Should a Christian man, who was a Muslim married to several wives, divorce his wives after he becomes a Christian?
Answers to a Question from Nigeria

8. ANSWER 6 (from the Holy Land)

I faced this issue many times here in the West Bank. Brother Ibraheem from Tulkarem is married to two wives and has four children from each. After his conversion, I told him that: “You must love and care of your two wives. God is love and hates divorce. God does not want anyone to suffer, and doesn’t want the destruction of families. You married these two women when you were a Muslim, and now you are a loving Christian husband. Love your wives, don’t marry a third one, and raise your children in the fear of the Lord”.

Some Christians are very legalistic, to the degree that they don’t care if a woman is divorced and her children lose living with both parents in one house. God accepts people, if they repent from sin, and divorcing one of the two wives is sin.
