179 - Adam 04 - How the LORD God made Adam out of Earth
Texts -- BIBLE: Genesis 2:7 ---- CHANGED in KORAN: Adam formed out of EARTH (ard): Sura Hud 11:61 -- Adam formed out of CLAY (salsaal / tiyn): Suras al-Hijr 15:28, al-Mu'minun 23:12, al-Sajda 32:7, Sad 38:71-72 -- Adam formed out of DUST (turaab) Suras Al 'Imran 3:59, al-Kahf 18:37, al-Hajj 22:5, Fatir 35:11, Ghafir 40:67 -- Adam formed out of WATER: Sura al-Furqan 25:54 -- Adam FORMED by Allah: Suras al-A'raf 7:11, al-Sajda 32:9, al-Taghabun 64:3, al-Infitar 82:7-8 -- Adam created by BREATHING into him of ALLAH'S SPIRIT: Suras al-Hijr 15:29, Sad 38:72, al-Sajda 32:7-9
Contrast 1 -- BIBLE: And Yahweh Elohim (the LORD God) formed the Adam (human being), dust from the ground, and blew into his nostrils a living breath. And (thus) the Adam (i.e. human being) became a living soul. -- KORAN: Allah formed (4x Sawwarnaakum / Sawwarakum / sawwaaka / sawwaahu) Adam (or the human being, al-insaan) from earth (1x ard), or from clay (4x salsal or tiyn), or from dust (5x turaab), or even from water (1x maa' ). Allah also breathed into him of his spirit (min ruhiy / min ruhihi). No mention that Adam then became a living soul. >> Meaning >> BIBLE: Contains one simple and coherent description of what God did in creating Adam. -- KORAN: Contains diverse and incoherent, in one case even a contradicting, descriptions of what Allah did, when he created Adam. Nevertheless, the koranic description is mostly similar to what we find in the Bible.
