The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 1 - The 248 Positive Commandments of the Tora

6 - CLEAVING TO GOD

To cleave to God means to cleave to his words, and to all those who study and respect his law.

Deuteronomy 10:20 -- “You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve Him, and to Him you shall hold fast, and take oaths in His name.”
Deuteronomy 11:22 -- “For if you carefully keep all these commandments which I command you to do - - to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him
Deuteronomy 4:24 -- “For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.”

The Mishnah records the following saying of Jose ben Joezer of Zeredah, one of the early fathers of the tradition: “Let thy house be a meeting-house for the wise; and sit amid the dust of their feet; and drink in their words with thirst.”*

* Ab. I, 4
