213 - GATHERING SINGLE FALLEN GRAPES DURING THE HARVEST

Leviticus 19:10 -- “And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the LORD your God.”

The poor have no right to take the single fallen grapes, or the under-developed grape-clusters, until the owner has begun gathering the grapes of his vineyard for himself. “And how much should he have gathered for himself before the poor acquire the right to their dues? Three grape-clusters which can produce a revi’ith of wine.”*
