12.3. Christian beliefs foreign to Islam
This isn't a comprehensive list, but it gives a fairly good idea of the kind of discussion you might have. You will find you are talking to someone who has a very strong opinion about what you believe in without knowing exactly what you believe in. If we manage to get a Muslim to think critically and consistently, this will be a big step forward. For example when a Muslim objects to Christians praying without washing beforehand, we should take them a step back and talk about the spiritual meaning of prayers, and the kind of spiritual preparation for prayer and how that is more important than outward appearance. We have to point to the spiritual significance behind the physical. |
