12.3. Christian beliefs foreign to Islam

Original sin.
Everyone is born a sinner.
There is a moral law set by God in every human conscience.
The holiness of God and His inability to look upon sin.
The need for redemption.
That we can’t save ourselves.
The need for a sacrifice.
The crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.

This isn't a comprehensive list, but it gives a fairly good idea of the kind of discussion you might have. You will find you are talking to someone who has a very strong opinion about what you believe in without knowing exactly what you believe in. If we manage to get a Muslim to think critically and consistently, this will be a big step forward. For example when a Muslim objects to Christians praying without washing beforehand, we should take them a step back and talk about the spiritual meaning of prayers, and the kind of spiritual preparation for prayer and how that is more important than outward appearance. We have to point to the spiritual significance behind the physical.
