17. Understanding Islam
SECTION FOUR: UNDERSTANDING ISLAMIC BARRIERS TO THE GOSPEL
CHAPTER NINE: BARRIERS FOR CHRISTIANS TO OVERCOME WHEN EVANGELISING MUSLIMS

9.9. Lack of trust in Christ’s work

Quite often Christians may hear about someone converting to Islam. This is celebrated by Muslims and sometimes even by secular media, but very rarely do we hear about a Muslim converting to Christianity. Muslims who convert to Christianity keep it quiet, either because of the life threatening danger of such conversion, or because they are sometimes not believed. This contributes to the idea that it is impossible for a Muslim to become a Christian. Implicit in this is a lack of faith, the idea that this job is too difficult for God. Yet the Bible is full of accounts of terrible people who did terrible things and yet who were saved by God in His mercy (and were we not all equally far from God before we came to faith?).
