061 -- Summary of UNIT 03

In all, we so far have found about 2,245 verses in the Koran that are rooted in the Bible. Since the Koran has 6,236 verses, this means that the Bible has been taken up in a bit more than one third (36%) of the verses of the Koran. This includes many Koran verses, which add material to what the Bible has or which have changed what the Bible says about the respective topic. In order of decreasing number of verses in the Koran rooted in the Bible, here are the parts of the Bible and their prominence in the way, in which the Koran is rooted in them (these numbers are tentative estimates):

from Part 1 of the OT (= Torah) --- 1,500 verses;
from Part 4 of the NT (= Revelation) --- 500 verses;
from Part 2 of the OT (= History) --- 80 verses;
from Part 1 of the NT (= Gospels) --- 60 verses;
from Part 3 of the OT (= Writings) --- 50 verses;
from Part 3 of the NT (= Letters) --- 25 verses;
from Part 4 of the OT (= Prophets) --- 20 verses;
from Part 2 of the NT (= Acts) --- 10 verses.

In view of the fact that the Bible has a total of 31,169 verses, it is clear that the Koran, even though about one third of its verses are rooted in the Bible, has ignored more than 90% of what the Bible teaches!
