The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 1 - The 248 Positive Commandments of the Tora

61 - OFFERING ONLY UNBLEMISHED SACRIFICES

Leviticus 22:21 -- “And whoever offers a sacrifice of a peace offering to the LORD, to fulfill his vow, or a freewill offering from the cattle or the sheep, it must be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it.”
Numbers 28:31 -- “Be sure they are without blemish. You shall present them with their drink offerings, besides the regular burnt offering with its grain offering.”

“Both the offering and its complement of the Meal and Drink offerings must be not only perfect in kind and free from all blemishes whatsoever they must also be of the very best that the owner possesses.”* One should always offer of the finest and of the very best, urges Maimonides, “For he that would gain added merit for himself should overcome his evil inclination (to miserliness), and be generously open-handed, so that his offering should be the very finest and most excellent of its kind. The Torah says: ‘Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering.’ (Genesis 4:4). But the same rule should be observed in regard to every offering we make to the Lord: it must be of the highest excellence and of the very best. The house of prayer one builds must surpass his own dwelling-house; the hungry should be fed of the best and daintiest foods on one’s table; the naked should be clothed with the very finest of one’s garments, and one should dedicate (to the Lord) only of the best that he possesses – even as Scripture declares, ‘ All the fat is the Lord’s.’ (Leviticus 3:16).”**

“It is further ordained that the offerings must all be perfect and in the best condition, in order that no one should slight the offering or treat with contempt that which is offered to God’s name: ‘Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you?’ (Malachi 1:8)”*
