Exodus 21:11 -- “And if he does not do these three for her, then she shall go out free, without paying money.”
It should be noted that as a matter of Rabbinic law every man is obliged to give his wife a Kethubah, which is a marriage contract, setting forth the amount payable to her in case of the husband’s death or in case he divorces her.
