The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 1 - The 248 Positive Commandments of the Tora

227 - TRANSGRESSORS OF CERTAIN COMMANDMENTS TO BE STRANGLED

Leviticus 20:10 -- “The man who commits adultery with another man's wife, he who commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress, shall surely be put to death.”

A complete list of the commandments for which strangling is the penalty is to be found in “Mishneh Torah”.*

* Mishneh Torah, Shoftim, Hilchoth Sanhedrin XV, 13

All members of a court, which pronounced a capital sentence, were under obligation to abstain from all food on the day of execution.* The sages further interpreted the commandment, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself (Leviticus 19:18) as ordaining that a humane mode of execution be applied wherever possible.**
