11 - ERECTING A PILLAR WHICH PEOPLE WILL ASSEMBLE TO HONOR


Deuteronomy 16:22 -- “You shall not set up a sacred pillar, which the LORD your God hates.”

Maimonides quotes this verse in support of his dictum: “If you examine the Law and the books of the Prophets, you will not find the expressions burning anger, provocation, or jealousy applied to God except in reference to idolatry.”*
