82 - OFFERING ANY SACRIFICE WHATEVER ON THE GOLDEN ALTAR

Exodus 30:9 -- “You shall not offer strange incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering; nor shall you pour a drink offering on it.”

Whoever offers, or dashes the blood of any sacrifice upon it other than what belongs to it* is liable to whipping.

* Incense was burnt twice daily upon the Golden Altar (see Pos. Comm. 28, Vol. I, p. 37). On the Day of Atonement, the blood of certain sacrifices was also sprinkled upon it (Lev. XVI, 18- 19; see also ibid., IV, 7, 18)
