The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 2 - The 365 Prohibitions of the Tora

112 - SEVERING THE HEAD OF THE BIRD OF A SIN OFFERING DURING MELIKAH

Leviticus 5:8 -- “And he shall bring them to the priest, who shall offer that which is for the sin offering first, and wring off its head from its neck, but shall not divide it completely.”

The purpose of this prohibition is to guard us from diminishing the offering of a poor person, for severing the head of the bird would make his offering appear smaller.*
