Eating an olive’s size of the flesh of a nevelah is punished by whipping. “Blood and nevelah, i.e. the flesh of an animal that has died of itself, are indigestible, and injurious as food; t’refah, an animal in a diseased state, is on the way to becoming nevelah.”* * Moreh Nebuchim III, 48
