Previous Prohibition -- Next Prohibition

The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 2 - The 365 Prohibitions of the Tora

205 - A NAZIRITE EATING THE KERNELS OF GRAPES

Numbers 6:4 -- “All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine, from seed to skin.”

“In the law about the Nazirite we notice even the prohibition, he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine, as an additional precaution, implying the lesson that man must take of wine only as much as is absolutely necessary. For he who abstains from drinking it is called ‘holy’; his sanctity is made equal to that of the high priest, in not being allowed to defile himself even for his father, for his mother, and the like. This honor is given to hem because he abstains from wine.”*

* Moreh Nebuchim III, 48
