The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 2 - The 365 Prohibitions of the Tora

231 - WITHHOLDING A LOAN TO BE CANCELED BY THE SABBATICAL YEAR

Deuteronomy 15:9 -- “Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, 'The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,' and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the LORD against you, and it become sin among you.”

In his “Mishneh Torah”, Maimonides speaks of the violation of this commandment as constituting “a grave offence, seeing that the Torah twice admonishes us against it, and refers to the mere thought of it as b’li-ya’al, a base thought.”*
