259 - EMPLOYING A HEBREW BONDMAN ON UNNECESSARY WORK


Leviticus 25:43 --You shall not rule over him with rigor, but you shall fear your God.”

Although the employment of a Canaanite bondman “with rigor” is legally permitted, Jewish standards of kindness and humanity never permitted a man to work his bondmen “with rigor”.*
