The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 2 - The 365 Prohibitions of the Tora

322 - PUNISHING ON THE SABBATH

Exodus 35:2-3 -- 2 “Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. 3 You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”

By this prohibition, it is forbidden to carry out the punishment of a wrongdoer on the Sabbath. It is contained in His words (exalted be He), You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day,* the meaning of which is: “Do not burn the culprit who is liable to burning”; and the same law applies to all other forms of execution.

* Exodus 35:3
