The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 1 - The 248 Positive Commandments of the Tora
211 - RESPECTING PARENTS
“And to what extent is one to fear his father and mother? If, while he is dressed in elegant clothes and presiding over a distinguished assemble, his father or his mother were to come upon him and rend his clothes asunder, if moreover they were to strike him on the head and even spit at him, he must refrain from giving them offence and hold his peace from awe and dread of the All Highest King of kings, who has thus commanded him. If a king of mere flesh and blood were to impose upon him affliction even worse than this, he would never dare to protest – by how much the more must he forbear in deference to Him at whose word the world came into existence in perfect accordance with His will?”*
