235 - LANDING AT INTEREST

Leviticus 25:37 --You shall not lend him your money for usury, nor lend him your food at a profit.

Jewish law attaches great significance to the commandments pertaining to usury. Thus according to the Talmud, to lend money at interest is like doubting the Divine wisdom and origin of the Torah; it is also likened to murder.* According to Maimonides, both the borrower and the lender are looked upon as it they denied the existence of the Deity.**
