296 - ACCEPTING A RANSOM FROM ONE WHO HAS COMMITTED MURDER UNWITTINGLY
Numbers 35:32 -- “And you shall take no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may return to dwell in the land before the death of the priest.”
By this prohibition, it is forbidden to accept ransom from one who has unintentionally committed murder, so as to absolve him from exile to a City of Refuge.*
