328 - WORKING ON SHEMINI ATZERETH
Leviticus 23:36 -- “For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it.”
Exodus 12:16 -- “On the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat--that only may be prepared by you.”
Whoever does any manner of work on any of the following days is liable to whipping: the first and seventh days of Passover, the Feast of Weeks, the New Year, and the first and eighth days of Tabernacles; unless the work is concerned with the preparation of necessary food. The same applies to the rest of the festivals.
