BIK01 - Biblical Investigations of the Koran
A Ministry Course on Biblical Content in the Koran
STAGE 1 - INTRODUCTION
UNIT 01 - PREVIEW: What to expect in this ministry course

025 - Preview of Unit 17: Example = ATONEMENT in Bible and Koran

In this last unit of stage three we illustrate in detail, how to go about such comparisons of words and corresponding teachings between the Bible and the Koran.

As a specific example we chose the field of words connected with the concept of atonement to see what the Bible teaches about atonement and then contrast this with what the Koran teaches about atonement.

We highlight the atonement of sinners in the Torah through the blood of sin offerings applied to the altar of burnt offering by a priest in the sanctuary and how this was taken up in the New Testament to describe what happed, when Christ died for our sins on the cross.

Because the Koran omitted nearly all prescriptions of the Torah on sacrifices, including those on sin offerings, and because the Koran decisively denied the vicarious death of Christ on the cross for our sins, we will show how the teaching of the Koran on atonement changed the biblical teaching on this concept into a prescription as to how people can undo their evil deeds with specific atoning deeds.

This example will show you one of the deepest spiritual differences between the Bible and the Koran.
