09.1 - CHANGE EXAMPLE 1: Adam in the Garden and the interdiction to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:15-17 changed in the Koran)
09.1.4 - Element 4: Permission to eat of every tree in the garden
161 - Element 4: ANALYSIS - How Genesis 2:16b was paraphrased and changed in the Koran
Here the Koran paraphrased the Bible, for in both books Adam is told to eat from any produce of the garden.
However, there are the following differences:
a) In the Bible only Adam is given a command, while in the Koran it is the two of them, Adam and his mate (i.e. his wife), who are ordered to eat. (This is a transformation of biblical content in the Koran)
b) In the Bible Adam is to eat from every tree of the garden, while the Koran does not specify from what kind of plant Adam and his mate are to eat from (This is an omission of biblical content in the Koran).
c) In the Bible no tree is excluded (every tree), while in the Koran no region in the garden is excluded (from wherever you want). (This is a paraphrase of biblical content in the Koran)
d) And finally the Koran adds a qualification as to how they are to eat from the garden: with pleasure. This is not mentioned in the Bible. (This is an addition of non-biblical content to the Koran)
