20. For Readers of the Qur'an
BOOKLET 4 - NAMES AND ATTRIBUTES OF CHRIST IN THE QUR'AN

20) A Faithful Witness (شهيد)

Sura al-Ma'ida 5:117 offers a dialogue that Christ had with Allah, after he was lifted up to Him. According to this verse, Christ affirmed that he was a faithful witness (shahid), watching over his followers while he was among them on earth. After Christ's death and ascension, the Almighty, who also carries this title of "Faithful Witness" (shahid), is now watching over them. The Qur'an gives both Allah and Christ the same title, which confirms the highness of Jesus and his revered role as our faithful Intercessor.

In his dialogue with Allah, the Son of Mary affirms that he did not speak blasphemies to mankind about a false Trinity. He confirmed that Allah, the Virgin Mary and Christ, her Son, never formed the unity of a Trinity, neither in heaven nor on earth. Everyone who reflects this secret spiritually will see that the Almighty, His Word, and His Spirit are a complete indivisible unity.
