The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 1 - The 248 Positive Commandments of the Tora

233 - A HEBREW BONDMAID TO BE MARRIED BY HER MASTER OR HIS SON

Exodus 21:8 -- “If she does not please her master, who has betrothed her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her.”

The sages say explicitly: “The duty of espousal has precedence over the duty of redemption, because the Exalted One says, her master, who has betrothed her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. (Exodus 21:8)”

The laws concerning a Hebrew bondman and bondmaid are in force only when the law of the Jubilee is in force.*
