Previous Prohibition -- Next Prohibition

The Sharia of Moses in the TORA
Part 2 - The 365 Prohibitions of the Tora

304 - TAKING VENGEANCE ON ONE ANOTHER

Leviticus 19:18 --You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.”

“he who takes vengeance, violates a prohibition… And although whipping is not inflicted for this violation, such conduct nonetheless indicates an exceedingly bad disposition. One should rather practice forbearance in all secular matters, for the intelligent realize that these are vain things and not worth taking vengeance for.”*

* Mada, Hilchoth Deoth VII, 7
