004 - Introduction to the FIRST HALF of this course
This first half of our Biblical Investigations of the Koran will focus on the actual text of the Bible and ask how we can interpret passages of the Bible without forgetting that many times there are competing koranic statements regarding the content of these Bible passages. The aim is to discover a practical method that can guide you in interpreting the Bible in view of the Koran.
This part has two stages. The first stage gives a preview on the whole course with its projected two parts (Unit 01) and explores the inner limits of this field of study by comparing the Bible and the Koran as books (Unit 02). The second stage will present a detailed method on how biblical passages and biblical personalities can be traced in the Koran, by first finding and listing such passages and personalities of the Bible that have been taken up in the Koran (Units 03 and 04) and then for one specific biblical passage (Genesis 2 to 5) with a corresponding specific biblical personality (that of Adam) exploring in detail how and why the Koran has modified biblical content from this passage in Genesis regarding this personality of Adam (Units 05 to 10). In the final units of this stage we will also point out, how these findings can be practically used in your Christian ministry among Muslims.
