173 - Closing: Prayer and Luke 16:17

PRAYER: We worship you, God of Adam and Noah, for the riches and wisdom of your word. You clearly revealed to Adam the nature of the forbidden tree, that it is a tree that mixes knowledge of your goodness with knowledge of the evil that lies beyond your goodness. You also revealed to Adam that eating of this tree would bring death. He and his wife did eat and the result is that their spiritual lives were polluted forever. We their descendants are under the curse of their sin and therefore have to die like them. However, we thank you that in The Seed of the woman, Adam's wife, that is in our Lord Jesus Christ, you broke open a way out of this curse. Christ carried our curse and therefore we can again live under your unrestricted blessing. Even more, you bequeath us with the riches of your grace by giving us the power to be born of you as your children, to have your life-giving Holy Spirit in us, and to have the assurance of an eternal hope of glory in fellowship with you. We thank you with all our hearts for these wonders of your salvation in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Make us compassionate with our Muslim friends and neighbors so that we do not withhold from them the truths of your Law as you revealed it to Adam, and which were omitted in their Koran. And help us share with them how you overcame the curse of Adam's sin in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Amen.

“It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to fall.” (Luke 16:17)
