A Ministry Course on Biblical Content in the Koran

012 - Preview of Unit 05: The Biblical ADAM in the Koran

In a next step, and as a specific example for demonstrating the use or the method proposed in this ministry course, we further restrict our attention to only one such biblical personality taken up by the Koran, specifically the biblical passages on Adam and how the Koran has taken up this biblical content. By comparing the verses from the biblical and the koranic list on Adam (included in Unit 04) we tried to correlate with each other as many of Bible and Koran verses as possible from these two lists. In doing so we discovered three types of relationship between the verses in these two lists on Adam (the biblical list and the koranic list):

a) Bible verses on Adam, for which no similar Koran verses can be found (because they are omitted in the Koran).;

b) Koran verses on Adam, for which no similar Bible verses can be found (because they are added in the Koran) and finally

c) Bible verses on Adam, which seem to be similar to corresponding Koran verses (and which are always changed in the Koran).

Again, this Unit 05 can be used as a reference manual about how Bible-verses on Adam and Koran-verses on Adam are related to each other (i.e. the raw material on Adam in the Bible and the Koran).
